Individual Psychotherapy

You’re here because the messages you’ve heard throughout your life have said it’s not okay to be vulnerable. So, you adapted ways of protecting your most vulnerable parts, and avoid pain, shame and confusion. Now, what you’ve safely hidden away wants to come to the surface, and you need someone to help you make sense of all that’s emerging.

My Approach to Therapy:

As a therapist, one of the greatest struggles I’ve observed is when clients’ thoughts about themselves differ from their feelings. For instance, someone might say something like, “I know I’m loveable, but I feel like no one will ever care about me,” or “I know it is not my fault, but I feel so guilty and ashamed.” My greatest intentions are to help clients overcome painful experiences and bring healing to all parts of their lives, to ultimately achieve harmony with what is known in the mind to what is felt in the body.

My approach to healing is person-centered, eclectic, spiritual and holistic. I am trained in psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Functional Family Therapy, and Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS). However, I recognize that therapy is more than just a collection of therapeutic approaches. It is also about building partnerships and alliances with the person sitting across from me. In that way, I am also informed by the stories and experiences of the people I work with, and tailor my approach to the unique needs of each client who chooses me.

I provide individual therapy to adults ages 18 and up. Some of the things we may work on together include:’

  • Identifying your core beliefs to understand how they have impacted you over time.

  • Making connections between your past experiences and present-day feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.

  • Deepening your inner knowledge, personal power, self-acceptance, and strength to have greater trust in yourself.

  • Expanding the relationships you have with your mind, body, and spirit to make decisions that are authentic to who you are.

  • Addressing issue areas that include ADHD, ageing, anxiety, depression, family of origin related challenges, grief/loss, identity, life transitions, racism and oppression, relationships, self-esteem, spirituality, stress, trauma/PTSD, work-related stressors.
